Keep knit appearance, composition and care separate
| Compare | Record or ask | How to use the answer |
|---|---|---|
| Neckline and shape | Neck opening, body length and cuff or hem views | Compare a turtleneck and a zip neck as different constructions. |
| Composition | Explicit fiber statement for the selected item | Cable texture does not identify wool, cashmere or any other fiber. |
| Care | The actual garment care label | Use instructions for the identified garment instead of a generic wool routine. |
A practical decision: If a knit listing gives no composition or care label, leave both unconfirmed. A wool-care reference explains wool care; it does not identify this sweater’s fibers.
Choose a neckline and shape
Compare crewneck, turtleneck and zip-neck styles according to how you want to wear them. Check body length and the shape of the hem. A close crop can hide proportions, so look for a complete front view before comparing a graphic sweater with a longer or closer-fitting style.
Read composition claims separately from appearance
A cable pattern or a textured photograph does not prove the fiber composition. Look for the actual composition information and ask about missing details before choosing. Do not transfer the reputation of a brand field to the yarn in a seller listing, or describe an unverified sweater as wool or cashmere.

A cable-knit neckline still needs confirmed composition and garment dimensions.

Contrast patterns can be compared visually without claiming a tested yarn quality.

When close-ups are available, compare the neckline, cuffs, hem and joins visible in the selected variation. Separate those observations from claims about softness, warmth or long-term pilling. Those properties are not established by a listing image, and this guide does not report any firsthand wear or wash test.
Check the care label before selecting a routine
Woolmark advises checking a garment’s care instructions before washing wool. That does not mean every sweater here contains wool or can use the same wash program. Ask for the selected item’s actual label and follow its instructions rather than assuming that a familiar knit texture identifies a suitable care method.
